The graph above shows the annual stats for fatalities on New Zealand roads over the past five years. These are some alarming figures. This is the main driver behind the work we do, to ensure all New Zealanders have access to ADAS equipped vehicles that operate the way that they are designed to and protecting the driver and occupants of every vehicle.
Car occupants represented the vast majority of casualties (71% of road deaths). Motorised two wheelers accounted for 14% of all road deaths, and pedestrians for 9%
267,000 people were in a car accident in the past year
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems are incorporated into all modern vehicles and need to be re-calibrated to manufacture specifications after a minor collision. If not re-calibrated correctly it can lead to more complications in the vehicle's cameras, radars and sensors causing them to operate incorrectly
Road to Zero’s vision for New Zealand is that no one is killed or seriously injured in road crashes, and have set a target of reducing annual deaths and serious injuries by 40% by 2030
If you’ve been in a minor collision and your vehicle is equipped with ADAS technology, check in with your collision repairer or insurance company to see if these systems have been re-calibrated to ensure that the technology in your vehicle is working to protect you on the road.
